Assessment of Coastal Inundation and Erosion Impacts on Tasmanian Buildings and Structures

We have successfully obtained two competitive natural disaster risk reduction grants providing Commonwealth funding to Tasmania under the National Disaster Risk Reduction Framework. These two grants totaling $450,000 with $200,000 cash value. The funding continue the work conducted by Dr Ali Tolooiyan, Dr Ashley Dyson and Dr Gholamreza Kefayati on Tasmanian natural hazard mitigation techniques.

This project aims to provide coastal hazard assessments for coastal erosion and inundation processes for Tasmanian coastal soils, focusing on the associated impacts on Tasmanian public and residential infrastructure. This project will provide further surety to Tasmanian coastal planning and risk mitigation through technical assessments of common Tasmanian coastal soils susceptible to coastal erosion and inundation. The objective of this work is to provide results developed through this funding strategy to the Department of Premier and Cabinet to further strengthen hazard mitigation policies, codes and standards.
