Congratulations to Drs Ali Tolooiyan and Ashley Dyson who have been elected to several International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) technical committees, whose mission is to promote specialist geotechnical knowledge. ISSMGE is an international society representing 91 countries, with over 20,000 members.
Dr Tolooiyan has been elected to TC103 – Numerical Methods in Geomechanics and TC307 – Sustainability in Geotechnical Engineering. TC103 aims to provide a forum for all interested members of ISSMGE to explore the using of computational tools and developing of advanced numerical methods to solve problems relevant to soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. TC307 is tasked with dissemination of knowledge related to sustainable site remediation, influence of climate on geology, sustainable slope protection methods and sustainability of geotechnical infrastructures.
Dr Dyson has been elected to TC304 – Engineering Practice of Risk Assessment and Management. TC304 is charged with promoting and enhancing aspects of risk-based geotechnical engineering including probabilistic geotechnics, reliability-based design and the quantification of uncertainty.
