The Opportunity
The position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PDRF) in Geotechnical Engineering is funded by a grant as part of the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) by the Australian Federal Government and implemented by the Tasmanian Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPAC). The collaborative project with investigators from the University of Tasmania and Mineral Resources Tasmania aims to reduce natural landslide disaster risk for Tasmania’s coastal urban zones.
This project will combine nationally and internationally recognised geotechnical skills and techniques with expertise to evaluate and optimise engineering techniques for coastal landslide-prone areas in the state. The role will involve physical and numerical assessment of Tasmanian coastal clays and associated soils under coastal cyclic loads. This will include advanced site investigation strategies involving geotechnical site investigation in addition to static and dynamic characterisation of soft soils.
