Shiyin is a professional engineer in civil and structural engineering. Shiyin obtained his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering degrees from Jilin University, China and a master’s degree in civil and structural engineering from the University of Tasmania, Australia. Shiyin has over 6 years’ experience in technical service and consulting.  Shiyin’s current research looks at the modelling of flow-structure interaction to analyse flow behaviours and optimise structural designs. Shiyin is accredited by Engineers Australia and is the student representative for the Tasmanian Committee of the Australian Geomechanics Society.
